About Pixxoscan

As part of our comprehensive contrast media product portfolio, GE HealthCare is proud to offer Pixxoscan (gadobutrol), bioequivalent to that of Gadovist®. Pixxoscan is a macrocyclic, general-purpose GBCA used for a broad range of MRI procedures across a breadth of patient types.
Pixxoscan is available in a range of packaging options, has a well-established tolerability profile, and is manufactured in-house by GE HealthCare. Enhanced confidence in continuity of supply and in product availability is further supported by GE HealthCare’s vertically integrated Pixxoscan manufacturing process.
Efficacy

Pixxoscan has double the concentration of gadolinium at 1.0M

Gadobutrol is formulated at double the concentration of Gd3+ ions compared to other GBCAs, reducing the injection volume by half and producing a more focused bolus.2 Combined with a high r1 relaxivity, gadobutrol enhances detection, delineation, and characterisation in MRI.2,3,8-11
Image quality

Highly effective in both steady state and dynamic imaging2-6,12

The high relaxivity of Pixxoscan is an advantage when enhancing steady state imaging 3-6,12

Meanwhile, the narrower bolus of gadobutrol is designed to optimise visualisation during dynamic imaging, potentially offering advantages in certain clinical scenarios.2
Usage

Potential to improve diagnostic confidence across a broad range of indications11,13,14

Pixxoscan should be used when diagnostic information is essential and not available with unenhanced MRI.

Pixxoscan is indicated for diagnostic contrast enhancement in adult, adolescent, and young populations (including term newborns) for:14 

  • Body imaging, including breast and kidneys
  • CNS (cranial and spinal MRI and perfusion studies)
  • MR angiography (CE-MRA)
Pixxoscan is well tolerated across diverse patient populations.15,16

Hypersensitivity reactions: As with other intravenous contrast agents, Pixxoscan can be associated with anaphylactoid/hypersensitivity or other idiosyncratic reactions, characterized by cardiovascular, respiratory or cutaneous manifestations, and ranging to severe reactions including shock. In general, patients with cardiovascular disease are more susceptible to serious or even fatal outcomes of severe hypersensitivity reactions.
